ShockTalk Beta Overview

Community & Person Centered.

As the product of an Indigenous-led team, ShockTalk is committed to always centering the needs of individuals and their communities. To ensure a safe experience for each and every user, our team has decided to launch ShockTalk initially as an invite-only beta program later this year. Our team anticipates expanding access to ShockTalk in 2022.

Beta Platform.

ShockTalk's beta platform is focused on facilitating the creation of culturally appropriate patient-provider relationships. Shockoe AI is launching first on Facebook Messenger, with additional social channels planned.

Users schedule an intake and make appointment with a ShockTalk team member via Shockoe AI. Users receive a reminder notification 15 minutes prior to the user's intake appointment. During your appointment, a ShockTalk intake coordinator will walk you through our culturally appropriate matching process to identify the best-fitting Indigenous therapist in our network. The intake coordinator will send the matched therapist's scheduling URL during the matching session.

Scheduling a new appointment with your matched provider is always available through Shockoe AI and the Facebook Messenger UI.

A Closed Beta.

Our team is currently in the process of designing a series of focus-group trials to enable safe beta testing of ShockTalk as a telemental health platform. Since beta software is understood to sometimes include bugs, closed focus groups will be the safest way to operationalize ShockTalk's initial platform. Additional information on the beta process is available below.

Closed Beta Phases

What is beta testing?

Beta testing is a type of user acceptance testing where the product team gives a nearly finished product to a group of target users to evaluate product performance in the real world. There is no standard for what a beta test should look like and how to set up beta testing.

Technical beta testing.

Current Phase: A technically focused beta test is beta testing with a group of tech-savvy users (usually, it’s an internal group in the organization). The goal of this testing is to uncover complex bugs and provide high-quality test execution reports to the engineering team.

Closed beta testing VS open beta testing.

Closed beta version (also known as private beta) released to selected people who test its features. Usually, the number of test participants is limited. Closed beta tests are better suited for beta tests with a limited scope (only core features of the future product).

Focused closed-beta testing.

Focused closed-beta testing is used when a product team needs to gather feedback on specific features. In order to collect the feedback, the team releases the product to small focus-groups.

Focused open-beta testing.

Focused beta testing is used when a product team needs to gather feedback on specific features. In order to collect the feedback, the team releases the product to the market.
